Léa Santos's profile

Design of a fictitious app for a coffee shop

As part of the Google UX Design Certificate, we aim to rethink the user experience when browsing menus, placing orders, and booking tables. Our goal is to create a user-friendly application that caters to the needs of active families, remote workers, and their four-legged companions.

As the UX/UI designer of this project, I took on the responsibility of leading the design of the application, working solo as part of a course. My role involved conceptualizing, creating wireframes and prototypes, and iterating designs based on feedback and user testing. While I worked independently, I received support and guidance from my classmates also in training. Additionally, I had the opportunity to receive occasional feedback from a professional product designer, which helped improve the quality and relevance of my work.
As my first full UX/UI design project, it holds a special place in my professional journey. However, with the benefit of time and experience, I can recognize some potential improvements.

In the initial phase of the project, I may have been too focused on creativity and originality, at the expense of optimizing the user experience. Looking back, I realize that simplicity and clarity are often more important than pure innovation when it comes to designing effective user experiences. If I were to start the project again today, I would choose an even more user-centric approach, emphasizing efficiency and functionality.

Despite these reflections, I remain proud of this project. It symbolizes my beginnings in the field of UX/UI design and represents an important step in my career. The identified design flaws only reinforce my commitment to improving and evolving as a product designer.
